Champion Passport (Learner Overview + How to Get Started)

Champion Passport helps learners turn security knowledge into real-world impact by completing hands-on activities that strengthen security within your organization.

The Champion Passport is designed to help you put what you’ve learned into practice by completing real, meaningful activities that improve security inside your organization. It’s intentionally flexible and open-ended, so you can tailor your work to what matters most in your role and environment.

What is Champion Passport?

Champion Passport gives you opportunities to plan, complete, and document hands-on security activities, then submit them for review by your Platform Admin. Each activity is worth points, where:

  • 1 point = 1 hour spent on an activity you choose

  • Points count toward completing Professional and Expert levels

Default thresholds:

  • Professional: 100 points (100 hours)

  • Expert: +150 additional points (150 hours more)

Note: The required hours for completion may be updated based on your organizations goals.

Getting Access

Before you can begin using Champion Passport, you must complete the required prerequisite learning paths:

  • Foundational

  • Intermediate

  • Advanced

Once those are complete, Champion Passport becomes available to you.

Where to Find It

After it’s unlocked, you can access your Champion Passport from the top navigation bar under the Learning Center here

Creating Activities (Your Action Plan)

Champion Passport is built around the activity system, which helps you create a plan, track progress, and gather evidence of impact.

To begin:

  1. Go into Champion Passport

  2. Click “+ Add an activity”

  3. Choose a category

  4. Choose a specific activity within that category

  5. Select an audience

  6. Estimate how many hours you’ll spend

  7. Add details, journal progress, and attach evidence as you go

Default Activity Categories

Your platform may include categories such as:

  • Build

  • Teach

  • Research

  • Implement

These categories (and the activity options inside them) are configured by your Platform Admin, so if what you want to do isn’t listed, you can reach out to your admin to discuss options.

Example Activities (What you can do)

Champion Passport activities can be many things—anything that improves security outcomes. For example:

  • Teach a lunchtime security session for other developers

  • Build a new security feature

  • Create a threat model for something you’re working on

  • Research a security issue relevant to your team

  • Implement secure coding improvements in a project

The key idea is: you choose work that makes sense for your organization, then show evidence of what you did.

Requesting Mentorship (Optional Support)

If you want help shaping your plan, scoping an activity, or getting guidance, you can request mentorship directly from within an activity by selecting “Request Mentorship” and adding relevant details.

Your site admin will receive a notification and provide you with additional guidance as needed.

Submitting Activities for Judgment (Getting Credit)

When you’ve completed an activity and gathered enough evidence:

  1. Update the activity with final notes and proof of work

  2. Click “Submit activity for judgement”

  3. Your Platform Admin reviews it

  4. If approved, you receive the hours you allocated, and they count toward your Professional/Expert path progress
