Using Security Journey with a Learning Management System (LMS)

This article describes how you can roll out Security Journey training from within your LMS using SCORM or platform deep links.

Security Journey doesn't have any dedicated integrations with popular LMS tools.

However, it is still possible to use your LMS to assign training without losing any of the features or functionality in Security Journey.

Prerequisites

Once you've set up and configured your learning paths, you have the option to export your path or individual lessons in SCORM format and upload these directly to you LMS.

If SCORM is not an option you can gather the necessary URLs to leverage deep linking.

Recommended Approach - SCORM

Export to SCORM

To have the best possible experience, we recommend exporting lessons to SCORM and uploading them directly to your LMS.

Learner Experience

  • Learners will open the lesson within your LMS and take the lesson via the Security Journey platform.
    • They will see the lesson load immediately and will not be taken to the main site's map or list view.
  • Learner's lesson or path completion data will be automatically sent back to the LMS and recorded in Security Journey's available reports.

Alternative Approach - Deep Links

In the event that your LMS doesn't support SCORM 2004 (4th edition) you can still assign content from within your LMS to learners by leveraging platform deeplinks.

What is deep linking?

Deep links can be used to take users directly to specific content, sections, or functionality within an app, rather than having them navigate to the content manually.

In Security Journey, our "copy link to path" provides you a way to push users directly to the content they need to take. This "copy link to path" URL will directly enroll users in the selected path and populate the required lesson on the map or list view. Additionally, you can also copy/paste individual lesson URLs if that's preferred.

Prerequisites

  • Set up and configure Single-Sign On (SSO).
  • Set up and configure Learning Paths.
  • Create Assignments within your LMS by using "Copy Link to Path" or locating specific lesson URLs you wish to assign.

Learner Experience

  • Learners will click the individual lesson or path URL within your LMS and take the lesson via the Security Journey platform.

Additional Considerations

Reporting

If you are using deep links, you can use our Reporting API (pull) or xAPI (push) to receive Security Journey training metrics into your LMS. Our APIs do differ, so ensure you review what data is available so that you leverage the right one for your organization.
