Assignment Notifications

Learn how Security Journey assignment notifications work, including which alerts are sent, when learners receive them, and how to manage notification settings.

Overview

Assignment Notifications help keep learners aware of upcoming and overdue training by using in-platform bell notification and follow-up email reminders. This article explains how to set up and manage those notifications, including frequency settings, bell notifications, and unread notification emails.

Notification Frequency

When creating a new Assignment, you can choose how often the learner receives notifications. Available frequency options include:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

You can update these notification settings at any time, even after the Assignment has already been created.

Bell Notifications (In-Platform Alerts)

Bell notifications appear inside the Security Journey platform as a bell icon alert, similar to an unread message indicator. These are visible in the top-right corner of the platform.

Bell notifications are designed to quickly notify learners about their assignment status without needing to leave the platform.

Unread Email Notifications

Bell notifications display important details such as:

  • The Assignment name

  • The due date

If a learner does not clear the bell notification within one hour, the system sends an Unread Notification email.

That email includes:

  • The Assignment name with a clickable link that takes the learner directly to their User Profile to start the Assignment

  • The Assignment due date

Key Takeaway

Assignment notifications are a two-step reminder system:

  1. Bell notification in the platform

  2. If ignored for an hour → Unread Notification email

This ensures learners get reminders both inside the platform and in their inbox.
